Roundstone

A nice village located at the foot of Errisbeg Mountain, on the west side of Roundstone Bay. Founded in the early years of the 19th century by Alexander Nimmo, the famous Scottish architect, the center now enjoys renewed vitality thanks to the efforts of the Industrial Development Authority, which supports small businesses. An excellent example is represented by the workshop of Malachi Kerns, a well-known manufacturer of Bodhráns, the traditional goatskin drums.
If you're here in July, don't miss the Hookers Regatta, where various classes of wonderful boats, with their typical red sails and black hulls, compete in the bay in front of the harbour.
The area is also a paradise for botanists and naturalists, thanks to its proximity to Roundstone bog, where grow extremely rare species, such as St. Dabeoc and Mckay heather.
